Winter Hiking at Katschberg - Rennweg

The area also boasts approximately 30 kilometers of winter hiking trails.  If you are looking for an alternative to skiing or just want to enjoy the fantastic winter landscape at a slower pace.

Winter hiking trail / Katschberg:

Starting out from slope number 17, this sunny wind-sheltered route takes you over the Gamskogel, Freiburg and Sonnleiten slopes.  Fantastic views over the province of Carinthia..
Please note this route is not suitable for pushchairs or buggies.
 Journey time approximately 40 minutes (round trip).

Gamskogelhütte / Katschberg:

From the Katschberg slope take the family trail to the Gamskogelhutte.  This route is approximately 1.5km and suitable for families.
The Gamskogelhütte is said to be one of the loveliest mountain huts in the Alps.  After all that mountain air borrow a sleigh for a small fee and sleigh ride back to the resort.  Enjoy moonlight sleigh riding on the flood lit slope every Tuesday and Saturday from 17.00hrs to 22.00hrs.

Pritzhütte / Gontal:

This mountain hut is situated in the nature reserve of Gontal.  Hike your way through the snowy forest to this picturesque hut.  This hike is approximately 4km long.
Opening times: Daily. 
For that extra special experience this route is also accessible by horse and carriage.

Schoberblickhütte / Pöllatal:

You can reach this hut from Rennweg 6 km in the valley of Pölla.
Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday

Bonner Hütte / Laussnitztal:

Accessible by car over Frankenburg and Laußnitz . Stop off at the quaint rustic Bonnerhütte.  This route can be explored by day and night with snowshoes or by sleigh.
